In the slowest moving offseason for free agents in the history of the sport, something finally happened. Pitcher Yu Darvish has signed on with the Chicago Cubs. The deal is $126 million over six years.

The Cubs are one season removed from a World Series victory and needed to add a big arm to the rotation. Darvish will fill that gap right behind Jon Lester. Darvish has a career record of 56-42 with a 3.42 ERA

J.D. Martinez and Eric Hosmer are still both on the market as we approach the beginning of Spring Training. Martinez has an offer on the table from Boston. No one really knows what he’s waiting for. On the other hand, Hosmer wants a nine year deal, which seems unlikely, especially given the abundance of 1b options that are still available to teams.
