In his first game since May 19th, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas was fined $20,000 Wednesday for striking Minnesota Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins in the shoulder.

Thomas was given a flagrant foul 2 and ejected for the incident, which happened with 6:47 remaining in the 3rd quarter of the Cavaliers 129-99 loss to the Timberwolves on Monday. Thomas said after the game that the foul was inadvertent and that he was going for the steal.

The 5’9″ Thomas was traded to the Cavaliers in the offseason from the Boston Celtics in exchange for Kyrie Irving.

Andrew Wiggins accepted the apology and brushed off the contact as unintentional. The punishment was announced today by Keke VanDeWeghe, the NBA’s executive vice president for basketball operations.
