It’s no surprise that the Texas Rangers are the first team to make a move this offseason. It’s also no surprise that the move comes in the form of a Starting Pitcher. Former Nationals and Red Sox Pitcher Doug Fister is the first notable signing this offseason.
The deal is worth $4 million dollars over one year with incentives and a $500,000 club option for 2019. The base salary for 2018 will be $3.5 million.
With the Red Sox last season Fister went 5-9 with a 4.88 ERA over 15 starts. He did play in 18 games total. Overall Texas needs the rotation help so this isn’t a terrible move.
