New Orleans Saints superstar QB Drew Brees could potentially wear a new uniform next season.

The Saints have been struggling for the better part of the last five years. Since 2012, Sean Payton’s team has gone 7-9 four times and had one 11-5 record. That 11-5 record led them to a playoff birth.

Since Brees took over in 2006 he has led the Saints to five playoff births and one Super Bowl victory. No one is ever going to question is Sean Payton is a good coach. No one is ever going to question if Drew Brees is a good Quarterback. These are facts that we all already know.

The Saints have slowly started moving thier way into a rebuild and have since traded any reminisce of the older generation of players. They have since opted to start stockpiling draft picks and younger talent. Brandon Cooks was traded to the Patriots.

When Cooks was traded it was the unofficial start to the rebuild process. With all the success that Brees has had over the years and the fact that he is 38 years old now, its highly unlikely that he wants to stick around for a rebuild. Brees is still able to play at an eliete level though.

At the end of this season, Brees can opt out of his contract. Which is very likely and move to another team on the rise. Someone like Jacksonville or Arizona. Carson Palmer is probably going to call it a career, but that’s another story for another day.

The morale of the story here is that Drew Brees has plenty left in the tank. He is still playing at a top tier level with little to no weapons to throw it too. If he could potentially go to another team who already has weapons established, he could make his case for elite status once again.
