After numerous rumors of an impending doom for the Thunder with PG Russell Westbrook saying he is willing to leave in Free Agency when his contract runs up, he has decided on a 5 year, $205 million extension.
This comes after the team traded for Carmelo Anthony and Paul George over the offseason. This creates a solid core and increases the likelihood of Paul George re-signing at the end of this one year contract.
Westbrook, who came into the league in 2008 signed the biggest contract in NBA history on Kevin Durant’s birthday. That’s throwing some serious shade his way. Overall, this is a good move for both sides.
